Special Education Teacher - Dalton, GA

Step into an engaging role as a Special Education Teacher supporting elementary students in an inclusive classroom. This contract opportunity runs from July 29th to May 21st, 2027—including pre-planning days—offering a fulfilling experience to make a positive difference with students in the early grades.

You’ll work full-time (37.5 hours per week) with a manageable caseload of 8-10 students across PreK-2nd grades, with most students in first and second grade. The group includes learners with autism, significant developmental delays, speech/language delays, self-regulation challenges, and learning disabilities. While there’s no routine toileting or diapering, one student has a toileting goal that requires supervision for changing.

Key Qualifications:

• Active GaPSC Teaching License with P-12 Special Education (SPED) endorsement
• Dyslexia endorsement
• Experience working with elementary-aged students in an inclusive setting
• Strong classroom management and collaborative skills
• Compassionate approach to supporting diverse learners

Primary Responsibilities:

• Deliver specialized instruction tailored to IEP goals in an inclusive classroom
• Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff to ensure student success
• Monitor student progress and document outcomes according to district and state guidelines
• Engage in regular communication with families, sharing progress and strategies
• Supervise and support students with specific needs, including toileting as defined by individualized goals
