This opportunity focuses on teaching science to approximately 40-50 students in grades 6-12, with a schedule of 8 AM – 4 PM, Monday through Friday. Qualifications:
- Valid Connecticut Department of Education License with 165 Special Education Endorsement
- At least 2 years of recent experience teaching in a school setting
- Proven experience developing, implementing, and tracking Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Comfortable actively participating in IEP meetings and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Science content knowledge for middle and high school levels is a plus
- Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic educational environment
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver science instruction tailored to individual student needs in grades 6-12
- Develop, monitor, and update IEPs in collaboration with parents, administrators, and support staff
- Attend and contribute to IEP meetings and multidisciplinary planning sessions
- Foster a supportive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages academic growth and confidence
- Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and classroom technologies to differentiate learning
- Track progress, complete required documentation, and communicate effectively with all stakeholders
