What you bring:

  • Michigan Teacher Certification with endorsement(s) in LD (Learning Disabilities), EI (Emotional Impairment), CI (Cognitive Impairment), or MDE endorsement ZA (Early Childhood) plus another Special Ed area
  • Previous experience teaching in special education, ideally in an urban environment
  • Comfort with classroom management; max of 22 students per self-contained class
  • Strong understanding of IEP development, differentiated instruction, and federal/state Special Ed compliance (MARSE and IDEA)
  • Collaborative approach and ability to work with paraprofessionals, behavior specialists, and support teams
  • Commitment to professional development and ongoing learning
  • Comfortable participating in remote interviews
  • Official university transcripts required before presenting to the district

In this school year assignment (August 17th - June 11th), you’ll have the opportunity to work within resource and self-contained settings, impacting students from K-12. Caseloads may shift based on the evolving needs of the district. You’ll join a collaborative special education team supported by LSS departments, behavior experts, paraprofessionals, and a dedicated mentor. The district provides strong onboarding, training from academic leaders, and ongoing professional development to help you thrive.
