Special Education Teacher in Davison, MI

Step into a vital educational role supporting a young student with unique learning needs. As a special education professional specializing in cognitive impairment (CI), you’ll work within a collaborative team at a dedicated center, providing meaningful support and shaping a positive learning environment. This contract position begins as soon as possible and continues through June 11, 2027, with consistent hours from 7:30 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. each weekday.

Key Qualifications:

• Valid CI (Cognitive Impairment) teaching certification required
• Experience or interest in working with students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) needs
• Demonstrated ability to implement behavior and mental health interventions
• Familiarity with full team approaches in educational settings
• Up-to-date background checks and certifications as required by state regulations

Primary Responsibilities:

• Facilitate individualized instruction and behavioral supports for an 8- or 9-year-old student
• Collaborate closely with mental health professionals, therapists, and other team members to create a supportive, adaptable classroom environment
• Develop, monitor, and update IEP goals and strategies in partnership with families and the educational team
• Employ proactive strategies to manage challenging behaviors and optimize student participation
• Maintain thorough documentation and progress reports
• Attend team meetings and contribute to holistic discussions on student needs and progress
