Step into a rewarding opportunity making a difference in the lives of students with autism and language-based needs! We are seeking passionate Special Education Teachers to join self-contained Language/Autism Units across several elementary schools in the region. This onsite, contract position runs from August 4, 2026, through May 26, 2027, and offers a consistent weekly schedule of 37.5 hours.

As a valued educator, you’ll work collaboratively with highly supportive paraprofessionals in classrooms serving between 10 and 20 students in grades K-5. Each unit benefits from a strong team environment and dedicated school leadership committed to student and staff success.

Desired Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid Special Education teaching licensure in Alabama (verification required)
  • Previous experience teaching students in language/autism or similar self-contained settings preferred
  • Strong behavior management and individualized instruction skills
  • Ability to adapt curriculum and implement IEPs with fidelity
  • Excellent communication and collaborative mindset

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver differentiated instruction for students with diverse learning needs
  • Write, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Foster a structured, nurturing classroom environment
  • Work closely with paraprofessionals, therapists, and school administrators
  • Communicate progress with families and contribute to IEP meetings
