We are seeking passionate Special Education Teachers to join self-contained Language/Autism Units across several elementary schools in the region. This onsite, contract position runs from August 4, 2026, through May 26, 2027, and offers a consistent weekly schedule of 37.5 hours.
As a valued educator, you’ll work collaboratively with highly supportive paraprofessionals in classrooms serving between 10 and 20 students in grades K-5. Each unit benefits from a strong team environment and dedicated school leadership committed to student and staff success.
Desired Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid Special Education teaching licensure in Alabama (verification required)
- Previous experience teaching students in language/autism or similar self-contained settings preferred
- Strong behavior management and individualized instruction skills
- Ability to adapt curriculum and implement IEPs with fidelity
- Excellent communication and collaborative mindset
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver differentiated instruction for students with diverse learning needs
- Write, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Foster a structured, nurturing classroom environment
- Work closely with paraprofessionals, therapists, and school administrators
- Communicate progress with families and contribute to IEP meetings
