Special Education Teacher (Life Skills + Behavior Disorders Opening) - Decatur, TX Area

Position Overview
Soliant Education is seeking Special Education Teachers for onsite opportunities near Decatur, Texas, for the 2026–2027 school year. These are full-time contract positions supporting students across behavioral and life skills programs, with immediate openings available due to leave coverage. The schedule is to be determined based on the specific school location and assignment, and some placements may continue until the district fills the position internally.

Available Positions:

• Role A – Intermediate School: This opening supports a behavioral caseload of approximately five students in 3rd through 5th grade. The classroom is not fully self-contained, so the ideal candidate should have prior experience working with students who have behavioral and special education needs in a school setting. The position is not physically demanding and is designed for an experienced educator who can provide consistent academic, behavioral, and classroom support.
• Role B –Elementary School: This position serves approximately four students in kindergarten through 2nd grade within a life skills setting. The teacher will provide specialized instruction and individualized support based on student needs, goals, and IEP requirements. Previous experience working with elementary students in a life skills or similar special education program is required.
• Role C – High School Life Skills: Candidates who are comfortable working in both behavioral and life skills environments may be considered for an additional opportunity beginning in November. This assignment supports approximately five high school students and is expected to cover another maternity leave. Depending on district staffing needs, the placement could continue through the remainder of the school year.

Responsibilities
The Special Education Teacher will develop and deliver individualized instruction aligned with student IEPs and applicable curriculum standards. Responsibilities include monitoring academic and behavioral progress, maintaining appropriate documentation, collaborating with families and school staff, and participating in IEP meetings as needed. The teacher will also establish a structured learning environment that promotes student independence, communication, social development, and academic growth.

Requirements
Candidates should hold an appropriate Texas special education teaching credential or meet the requirements for the applicable assignment. Previous experience working with students with significant learning, behavioral, developmental, or adaptive needs is strongly preferred, with experience particularly important for the Bridgeport openings. Candidates should also be comfortable collaborating with general education staff, related service providers, administrators, and families while maintaining accurate educational records.

Assignment Details
This is an education industry position with Soliant Education for the 2026–2027 school year. The pay range is $37–$47 per hour, with full-time hours for both current openings; exact daily hours will be determined based on the school location. The anticipated start date is immediate, while the end date is TBD and may vary depending on the district's internal hiring timeline and leave coverage needs.
