Step into an impactful role supporting students with dyslexia and special education needs for the 2026-2027 school year in a welcoming Texas school setting. This contract position runs Monday through Friday from 7:45 AM to 3:30 PM and provides the opportunity to make a real difference in students’ lives.
The main focus will be working with a balanced caseload of approximately 25 students, spanning both Special Education and General Education classrooms (with the greatest need currently in EC-6, but with possible opportunities in Upper School). The curriculum is grounded in Reading by Design, and experience implementing structured literacy programs is highly valued. You'll be a key resource for Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) meetings, so strong communication and collaboration skills are essential.
Qualifications and Experience Needed:
- Valid Texas Educator License with both Special Education and Core/Generalist endorsements
- Direct experience in ARD processes, including confident participation and contribution in meetings
- Previous experience teaching students with dyslexia
- Understanding of and commitment to professional attire standards (no dyed hair or excessive piercings)
- Familiarity with instructional strategies designed to support diverse learners
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide targeted reading interventions and differentiated instruction to a caseload of students
- Use Reading by Design and other evidence-based methods to support progress
- Maintain detailed documentation of student progress and ARD paperwork
- Collaborate closely with instructional teams, families, and additional support staff
- Foster an inclusive, positive learning environment
