Step into a vital role supporting students as a Special Education Teacher within a high school setting. This full-time, contract position begins in August 2026 and continues through June 2027, aligning with the upcoming school year. The position offers a steady Monday through Friday schedule, with daily hours running from 7:10 AM to 2:30 PM. You'll serve students in grades 9-12, managing a high school caseload and providing direct support to learners with diverse educational needs.
Your days will follow an A/B schedule, with four 90-minute blocks and a prep period each day. This structure provides a predictable rhythm and allows for meaningful engagement with both students and colleagues.
Key Qualifications:
- Certification in Special Education (or eligibility)
- Experience working with high school students preferred
- Demonstrated skills in general special education case management
- Familiarity with IEP development, specially designed instruction, academic assessments, and data-driven progress monitoring
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate in a team environment
- Preferred: Experience in behavior management and transition planning
Primary Responsibilities:
- General case management for assigned students
- Providing specially designed instruction based on IEPs
- Academic evaluations, data collection, and progress monitoring
- Leading and facilitating IEP development and meetings
- Collaborating with families, general educators, and school specialists
- Supporting students in their transition planning and post-secondary preparation
- Implementing strategies for effective classroom and behavior management
