Special Education Teacher in Derry, NH

We are seeking two dedicated special education teachers for full-year, contract positions serving 5th and 6th grade students. The roles span August 2026 through June 2027 and offer full-time scheduling, Monday through Friday, with 32–37.5 hours each week.

You will join a collaborative and supportive team environment where your expertise is valued. One role focuses on providing instruction in a resource room setting for a grade-level caseload of approximately 15 students, supporting those with varying educational needs. The second position centers on delivering specialized instruction to a small group—three students—in a self-contained classroom, each supported by a paraprofessional. These learners may present with complex medical needs or be on the autism spectrum, requiring a creative, adaptable, and compassionate approach.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Valid certification in Special Education (or eligibility for certification)
• Previous experience working with elementary or middle grades preferred
• Familiarity with IEP development and progress monitoring
• Strong communication and classroom management skills
• Comfortable collaborating with paraprofessionals, therapists, and families
• Experience with students who have significant medical needs or autism is highly valued, especially for the Life Skills/Intensive Needs position
