A specialized opportunity is available for a compassionate Special Education Teacher at an elementary-level Nonpublic Therapeutic Day School in Des Plaines, IL. This contract role spans the current school year (CSY) and offers the chance to impact students requiring individualized academic and behavioral support.
Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each student's unique learning needs
- Collaborate effectively with a dedicated team of seven paraprofessionals, therapists, and administrative staff to maintain a structured, therapeutic classroom environment
- Deliver academic instruction and behavioral interventions grounded in evidence-based practices
- Maintain open and consistent communication with families and relevant external agencies
- Engage actively in professional development sessions and staff meetings to stay abreast of best practices
Qualifications:
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 endorsement is mandatory
- Prior experience in therapeutic or special education environments is strongly preferred
- Demonstrated proficiency in classroom management and ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
