Step into a rewarding role serving K-12 students as a Special Education Teacher in the greater Chicago area. As a vital educator, you’ll create inclusive and supportive learning environments, working with students who have a range of learning, emotional, and autism spectrum needs. This full-time contract position offers 35–40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with immediate openings through the end of the school year.
Qualifications:
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 endorsement for K-22
- Demonstrated experience developing and writing measurable IEP (Individualized Education Program) goals
- Prior experience working with students across a spectrum of abilities and disabilities, including learning, emotional, and autistic support needs
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Commitment to fostering student growth and success in an inclusive setting
Your Responsibilities:
- Deliver differentiated instruction to diverse learners in K-12 classrooms
- Develop, implement, and monitor individual IEPs tailored to each student’s unique strengths and challenges
- Collaborate regularly with general education teachers, specialists, and support staff
- Maintain regular communication with families and team members regarding student progress and goals
- Employ positive behavior support strategies and adapt curriculum as needed
- Document all services, accommodations, and progress notes in a timely and accurate manner
