This contract opportunity is designed for a dedicated Special Education Teacher experienced in cross-categorical instructional programming. You’ll be working with third graders who have a range of academic, behavioral, communication, and adaptive needs while collaborating within a dynamic school environment.
What we’re seeking:
- Valid Special Education teaching license (Illinois PEL with LBS1 endorsement)
- Experience in cross-categorical or resource/inclusion classrooms
- Expertise in developing and implementing IEPs
- Strong skills in behavioral and social-emotional intervention
- Ability to collaborate effectively with aides, related service providers, and families
- Familiarity with visual, sensory, and communication supports
- Commitment to differentiated instruction that is aligned with grade-level standards and students' individualized goals
In this role, you will:
- Deliver targeted instruction to students with a range of needs, adapting lessons to support academic and functional growth
- Align classroom teaching with IEP goals and grade-level standards
- Implement and adapt structured teaching approaches, visual schedules, and individualized behavior supports
- Foster a positive, supportive, and inclusive learning environment with the help of a classroom aide and 1:1 support staff as needed
- Collaborate closely with speech therapists, occupational therapists, and other related service providers
- Track student progress, collect data, and participate in IEP meetings to share insights and plans
- Support students’ social-emotional skills alongside their academic work
