Special Education Teacher in Des Plaines, IL

Make a lasting impact as a Special Education Teacher supporting students in a dynamic elementary or middle school setting! Four contract positions are available with opportunities at both inclusion/resource and structured classroom settings, all conveniently located near Des Plaines, IL.

You’ll work alongside dedicated support staff and collaborate closely with general education educators, delivering instruction and services tailored to students’ unique needs. With manageable caseloads, you will focus on fostering growth and confidence for your students while building meaningful connections.

What you bring:

• Current, active Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 endorsement
• Experience or strong interest in K-8 special education (elementary and/or middle school)
• Flexibility to work in inclusion/resource or structured settings
• Comfort with a range of student needs, including toileting assistance and behavior support when needed
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and documentation skills
• Dedication to nurturing positive outcomes for students with diverse learning profiles

Key responsibilities:

• Provide direct instruction and support services to students as specified in their IEPs
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, paraprofessionals, and related services staff
• Implement evidence-based instructional strategies and accommodations/modifications
• Manage student caseloads, including progress monitoring and documentation
• Develop and maintain effective communication with families and educational teams
• Support student independence, academic growth, and social-emotional development
