Step into a dynamic educational environment supporting elementary students as a dedicated Special Education Teacher on a contract assignment. This opportunity spans the full 2026-2027 academic year, working Monday through Friday for 35 hours per week, with a daily 30-minute lunch break and two 15-minute unpaid breaks. The role is based onsite and focuses on a resource model, serving children in grades K-4 with academic and social/emotional needs. The caseload includes 8-12 students, integrating both direct instruction during pull-out sessions and collaborative, push-in support within general education classrooms.

Required Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Valid Professional Educator’s License (PEL) or eligibility for licensure through the ISBE Educator Licensure Information System (ELIS); comparable out-of-state licenses considered with proper documentation
  • Certification in Special Education
  • Experience with academic and social/emotional interventions for elementary-aged students
  • Training in Orton Gillingham or comparable structured literacy interventions (such as SLANT, Wilson, or Sonday) highly preferred
  • Proven ability to collaborate with general education staff and support a range of student needs
  • Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to each student
  • Provide small group and individualized instruction in both pull-out and push-in settings
  • Partner with general education teachers to deliver inclusive services and create supportive classroom environments
  • Monitor progress, maintain accurate records, and communicate regularly with families and school staff
  • Foster academic growth as well as social and emotional development for caseload students
  • Stay current with special education best practices and district requirements
