Special Education Teacher - Des Plaines, IL

A dedicated Special Education Teacher is sought for an in-person, full-time contract opportunity supporting a K-2 multi-needs classroom. This position serves as a Leave of Absence (LOA) coverage from August 1st to September 23rd, with the possibility of extension. The classroom is self-contained and serves four students with significant disabilities, offering an excellent chance to make a meaningful difference early in the school year.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Valid Special Education teaching credentials for K-2 or eligibility to obtain
• Experience working with students who have significant disabilities, preferably in a self-contained environment
• Strong understanding of differentiated instruction and IEP development
• Excellent classroom management skills tailored to multi-needs populations
• Ability to work collaboratively with paraprofessionals, related service providers, and families
• Compassion, patience, and a creative approach to individualized student support

Responsibilities:

• Deliver in-person instruction tailored to each student's Individualized Education Plan (IEP)
• Implement strategies aligned with best practices for students with significant disabilities
• Collaborate with classroom aides and support staff to ensure optimum learning and care
• Adapt curriculum materials and activities to accommodate diverse needs and learning styles
• Collect data, monitor progress, and participate in IEP meetings as required
• Foster a positive, structured environment promoting growth, communication, and independence
