K-5 Grades 9 - 12 Special Education Teacher | Des Plaines, Illinois

You'll play an integral role in shaping the lives of students with autism or significant social and emotional needs within self-contained or therapeutic day school settings.

• High School Therapeutic Day School (significant social/emotional needs)

What We’re Looking For:

• Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 endorsement for K–22; candidates in process of licensure or with out-of-state credentials may also be considered
• Experience with special education across K–5, 9–12, or K–12 populations
• Passion for working with students who have autism and/or substantial social-emotional needs
• Strong classroom management skills and the ability to adapt instruction to individual learning levels
• Willingness to collaborate with other educators, therapists, and families to develop individualized support plans
• Excellent communication, organization, and documentation abilities

Your Role Will Include:

• Creating and maintaining a supportive, structured classroom for students with diverse learning needs
• Developing and implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
• Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure student success
• Differentiating instruction to meet individualized student goals
• Progress monitoring and timely documentation
• Participating in professional development as needed

Special education professionals in these roles will enjoy a pay range of $40–$55 per hour, reflecting experience and responsibilities.
