Special Education Teacher | Des Plaines, Illinois

This contract position offers a consistent schedule of 32.5 hours per week, working collaboratively with fellow educators and administrators.

This placement caters to both resource and instructional (self-contained) classroom needs. Candidates should indicate both their grade-level qualifications and their preferred teaching grade—allowing for the best possible fit for you and the students you serve.

Key Qualifications:

• Active Special Education Teacher certification (Illinois or transferable eligibility).
• Experience or strong interest in working with students K–8, with flexibility across Early Education, Elementary, and Middle School levels.
• Demonstrated understanding of IEPs, accommodations, and tailored instructional strategies.
• Ability to thrive in resource and/or self-contained classroom settings.
• Strong classroom management, communication, and collaborative skills.

Role Responsibilities:

• Deliver high-quality, individualized instruction to students in accordance with their IEPs.
• Develop and implement lesson plans that foster student growth and inclusion.
• Work closely with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and families.
• Regularly assess student progress and maintain accurate documentation.
• Participate in meetings and collaborate effectively within the school team.
