Special Education Teacher - Des Plaines, Illinois

This contract role is key to fostering an inclusive culture and ensuring compliance with federal and state special education standards. As the Special Education Coordinator/Instructional Coach, you'll champion effective instructional practices, facilitate IEP meetings, mentor educators, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—all focused on improving outcomes for students with disabilities.

Key Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in a relevant field
• Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a special education endorsement, qualified for PreK through age 22
• At least three years of classroom experience in Special Education, with a strong background in early childhood settings
• In-depth understanding of special education law, compliance, and best instructional practices
• Excellent communication, facilitation, and coaching skills

Primary Responsibilities:

• Serve as an instructional leader and compliance coordinator for early childhood special education programs
• Lead, organize, and document Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings
• Provide hands-on coaching and mentoring for special education staff to build capacity and drive student success
• Collaborate closely with building administrators, general education coaches, and district leadership to support program needs and enhance service delivery
• Support and strengthen inclusive practices across classrooms, ensuring students receive services aligned with their individual needs
• Maintain accurate and timely reporting of student progress and compliance measures

This is a full-time position following school hours (32.5 hours per week), starting as soon as possible through May 27, 2027. The role offers a chance to make a true difference in students’ lives, while working collaboratively in a supportive educational community.
