Special Education Teacher - Des Plaines, IL

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Valid Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 endorsement in Illinois
• If you have a comparable out-of-state certification, please consult the ISBE Educator Licensure Information System (ELIS) for guidance on transferring your license and securing an Illinois PEL
• Experience working with elementary-age students in special education environments
• Strong abilities in differentiating instruction and supporting diverse learning needs
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills with teachers, students, and families
• Commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive, and structured classroom climate

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide both pull-out and push-in academic support to a consistent caseload of K-4 students
• Deliver direct, targeted instruction to reinforce student learning
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, specialists, and families to support individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Promote the academic and social-emotional growth of students with varying needs
• Maintain effective documentation and progress monitoring

Scheduling Details:

• Full-time, contract position for the 2026/2027 school year
• Monday through Friday, 35 hours weekly
• Includes a 30-minute lunch break and two 15-minute unpaid breaks
• Onsite presence required
