Seeking an experienced Special Education Teacher to make a meaningful impact in an educational setting near Des Plaines, IL. This full-time contract opportunity involves supporting a dedicated classroom with a close-knit group of students. There are two positions available: one for a K-2 classroom and another for a high school classroom. Both positions offer robust support from paraprofessionals, the principal, and a Speech-Language Pathologist.

Your expertise will be especially valued if you have a strong background working with students on the autism spectrum, as well as experience supporting communication through AAC devices. Class sizes are small, with nine students currently and a maximum of ten, allowing for individualized attention and the opportunity to build strong connections.

Key Qualifications:

  • Valid Special Education teaching credentials
  • Demonstrated experience working with students with ASD
  • Proficiency in supporting the use of AAC devices for student communication
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive, positive, and safe classroom environment

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging, individualized instruction aligned with each student’s IEP
  • Utilize best practices for supporting students with autism, communication needs, and diverse learning profiles
  • Collaborate closely with paraprofessional and related services staff to maximize student success
  • Track progress, maintain accurate documentation, and participate in IEP meetings
  • Promote social-emotional growth, positive behavior, and active family engagement
