Special Education Teacher | Des Plaines, Illinois

Make an immediate impact as a Special Education Teacher in a high school therapeutic day school setting. This full-time contract position runs from January 2027 through March 2027, with hours from Monday to Friday, 7:00am to 3:00pm. Qualifications and Experience:

• Active LSB1 certification required
• Previous experience working with high school students in a therapeutic or special education environment preferred
• Strong classroom management skills and adaptability
• Ability to develop and deliver individualized instruction
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate with parents, staff, and related service providers
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive classroom environment

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver high-quality instruction aligned with students’ IEPs
• Create and maintain a classroom culture focused on respect and safety
• Adapt curriculum and teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs
• Monitor student progress and participate in IEP meetings as needed
• Partner with paraprofessionals, counselors, and other team members
• Engage positively with students and families to build trusting relationships
• Ensure compliance with special education laws and best practices
