Special Education Teacher | Detroit, Michigan

You’ll have a direct influence on students’ academic and developmental progress, overseeing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), participating in meetings, and fostering an inclusive and supportive classroom environment.

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

• Valid Special Education teaching certification (state-specific credentials required)
• Prior experience working with K-8 students in a special education setting preferred
• Strong understanding of IEP development, compliance, and implementation
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with students, families, and school teams
• Ability to organize, document, and manage multiple responsibilities effectively

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, and track progress on IEPs for a caseload of 10 students
• Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and administration to ensure individualized supports are in place
• Attend and contribute to IEP meetings, progress reviews, and team consultations
• Adapt instructional materials and lesson plans to meet diverse learners’ needs
• Maintain regular, clear communication with families regarding student progress
