A contract opportunity exists for a Special Education Teacher to provide instruction and guidance to students with mild to moderate needs at a Detroit-area school for the 2026/2027 academic year. This in-person role focuses on creating and managing individualized education plans (IEPs) and collaborating with fellow educators to promote student achievement.
Required Qualifications:
- Valid Michigan Special Education (SPED) Certification with appropriate endorsement
- Previous experience working with students with mild to moderate disabilities strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to commit to a full-time, onsite schedule for the entire 26/27 school year
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, adapt, and deliver meaningful instruction to meet each student’s unique needs
- Develop, update, and monitor individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Provide both direct instruction and support within the general education setting as appropriate
- Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families
- Maintain thorough records and complete all required documentation in a timely manner
- Foster an inclusive, positive classroom environment that encourages student participation and success
