Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Valid Special Education Teaching certification for Michigan
  • Experience with K-2 students or in similar early childhood settings strongly preferred
  • Proven background working with Emotional Impairment (EI) programs is ideal
  • Strong classroom management and individualized instruction skills
  • Collaborative approach to working with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Excellent communication and organization abilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction to a self-contained classroom of K-2 students with emotional impairments
  • Implement and adapt curriculum resources to meet diverse student needs
  • Provide a supportive, structured, and engaging classroom environment
  • Consistently monitor student progress and maintain thorough documentation
  • Collaborate regularly with general education staff, therapists, and parents/guardians
  • Participate in team meetings and professional development sessions
  • Uphold all federal and state regulations regarding special education compliance
