Make a meaningful difference in the lives of young learners as a Certified Elementary Cognitively Impaired (CI) Teacher at a welcoming K–2 program near Detroit, MI. This full-time, onsite contract opportunity spans the 2026–2027 academic year and provides the chance to support and empower students as they achieve their academic and developmental milestones.

What You Bring:

  • Valid Special Education License with CI or ASD endorsement
  • Certification in CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention), or a willingness to obtain and maintain yearly
  • Experience working with elementary-aged students, ideally in K–2 settings
  • Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Strong classroom management, communication, and collaboration skills
  • Passion for inclusive, student-centered learning environments

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the dedicated special education teacher for students with cognitive impairments in grades K–2
  • Create supportive, effective instructional plans in alignment with IEP goals
  • Foster a positive, inclusive classroom culture
  • Collaborate closely with general education staff, families, and related service professionals
  • Monitor student progress and adjust teaching methods to address diverse learning needs
  • Maintain accurate records, attend required meetings, and fulfill compliance documentation
  • Ensure student safety and support positive behaviors, utilizing CPI techniques as needed
