Special Education Teacher | Detroit, Michigan

An in-person opportunity is available for a skilled Special Education Teacher to support learners with mild to moderate needs throughout the academic year. In this contract role, you’ll develop individualized education plans (IEPs) and create a supportive learning environment that celebrates each child’s unique strengths.

Ideal candidates bring a strong commitment to student success, a deep understanding of differentiated instruction, and the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders. This is a full-time role beginning late August and continuing through late June.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Valid Michigan Teaching Certification with Special Education (SPED) endorsement required
• Previous experience supporting students with mild to moderate special needs is a plus
• In-depth understanding of IEPs and their implementation
• Strong communication and organizational abilities
• Ability to adapt to diverse learning styles and classroom environments

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, tailor, and implement IEPs to address individual student goals
• Partner with classroom teachers, counselors, and support staff to ensure comprehensive support
• Foster a nurturing classroom that encourages engagement and academic growth
• Track progress and regularly communicate with parents/guardians and the multidisciplinary team
• Adapt instructional methods and materials to suit each learner’s needs
• Participate in IEP meetings and professional development opportunities
