Special Education Teacher in Dillwyn, VA

With approximately 300 hours allotted, you’ll be able to deliver the necessary care at a tailored pace, directly supporting the student in their home environment.

Key Qualifications:

• Valid Special Education Adapted Curriculum K-12 license is required
• Experience working with elementary-aged students, preferably in special education
• Knowledge of strategies for supporting non-verbal students
• Ability to address and manage self-injurious behaviors using evidence-based approaches
• Commitment to providing consistent, individualized instruction and support
• Effective communication skills for collaboration with families and other professionals
• Comfortable working independently in a home-based setting
• Flexibility regarding delivery format – whether virtual or onsite (format pending confirmation)

What You’ll Do:

• Deliver specialized instruction and compensatory services tailored to a single student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP)
• Implement adapted curriculum strategies to foster student progress in academic and functional areas
• Document and report on session progress, collaborating closely with caregivers and other providers
• Foster a positive, safe, and supportive learning environment to help the student achieve their goals
• Utilize adaptive and augmentative communication techniques suitable for non-verbal learners
