A contract position is available for a Special Education Teacher specializing in adaptive and general special education at an elementary school in Duluth, GA. This role focuses on a self-contained autism support class serving 1st and 2nd graders with behavioral needs, following the general curriculum.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized instruction aligned with curriculum standards to students with autism and behavioral challenges in grades 1 and 2.
- Develop and implement behavior intervention plans to support student needs.
- Collaborate with school staff and families to create a supportive learning environment.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and participate in meetings regarding individualized education plans (IEPs).
Qualifications:
- Valid Georgia certification in Adaptive Special Education or General Special Education.
- Certification in all subject areas for grades Pre-K to 5, including reading, writing, science, social science, and math.
- Experience teaching students with autism and behavioral needs is preferred.
- Strong classroom management and communication skills.
- Ability to provide references, including one from a current or recent principal or assistant principal.
