Special Education Teacher | Dunkirk, New York

Make an impact as a Special Education Teacher working with young learners in a supportive and collaborative educational environment. This full-time contract opportunity runs from ASAP through June 30, 2027, with the possibility of renewal for those who excel in the position. You’ll support students in grades K-2 within a 6:1:1, self-contained classroom, focusing on developing both academic and functional skills, and providing crucial individualized instruction. This position is entirely onsite and follows a Monday through Friday schedule.

Key Requirements and Preferred Experience:

• Valid New York State Special Education Teacher Certification with appropriate endorsement
• Experience in self-contained classrooms or with intensive needs populations is a strong asset
• Proven ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Excellent communication skills for collaborating with parents, specialists, and staff
• Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment

Primary Responsibilities:

• Deliver evidence-based instruction tailored to each student’s academic and behavioral needs
• Modify curriculum and adapt teaching methods to meet diverse learning styles
• Assess student progress regularly and document outcomes
• Work closely with paraprofessionals and related service providers within the classroom
• Participate in IEP meetings and maintain thorough educational records
