Licensed Middle School Special Education Teacher in Durham, NC

An exciting opportunity awaits an experienced Exceptional Children (EC) teacher looking for a contract role supporting middle school students for the 2025-2026 school year. This engaging position is located near Durham, NC, and is ideal for a dedicated Special Education professional with a strong track record in middle grades and collaborative resource settings.

You’ll play a pivotal role providing both ELA and Math instruction to small groups of 2-3 ECS students within specialized resource classes addressing academic and occupational skills. With the support of a seasoned full-time ECTA familiar with the students, you will focus on delivering tailored instruction and ensuring quality, compliance, and student progress. The assignment runs from April 1st to June 5th, making your immediate impact essential.

Key Qualifications:

• Current Special Education Teacher license, with eligibility to teach middle school
• Substantial experience as an EC teacher in middle grades settings
• Strong background with resource ELA and Math instruction
• Proven ability to craft comprehensive, compliant IEPs tailored to individual student needs
• Skilled collaborating with paraeducators and support staff
• Ready to start quickly and contribute from day one

Primary Responsibilities:

• Instruct ECS students in resource ELA and Math alongside academic and occupational skills instruction
• Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs for assigned students
• Utilize existing classroom support and resources while maintaining high standards of individualized instruction
• Foster a positive, inclusive, growth-centered learning environment
• Track and report student progress regularly
