Step into a fulfilling contract opportunity as an experienced Exceptional Children (EC) Teacher, supporting middle school students in a dynamic educational environment for the 2025-2026 school year. This position, located near Durham, NC, offers the chance to make a direct impact by teaching Resource ELA and Math to a small group of 2-3 EC students, each supported by a dedicated full-time ECTA who has been with the students throughout the year.
As part of an academic and occupational skills program, you’ll leverage your expertise to teach, guide, and inspire, all while contributing critically to the development and execution of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). The role runs from April 1st through June 5th, offering a unique opportunity to hit the ground running, foster meaningful growth, and witness student progress firsthand.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Current licensure to teach Special Education (EC) at the middle school level
- Demonstrated experience working with middle grade students, ideally in a Resource ELA and Math setting
- Strong ability to write comprehensive, effective IEPs
- Previous work with EC students in both academic and occupational skills programs is highly preferred
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, able to work alongside experienced support staff
- Adaptable, team-oriented, and ready to start quickly
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging ELA and Math instruction to EC students in a small-group resource setting
- Collaborate closely with the seasoned ECTA and other educators
- Develop, implement, and revise IEPs to ensure student success
- Track and document student progress, adjusting strategies to meet evolving needs
- Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment
