Special Education Teacher in East Peoria, IL

The assignment runs from November 30, 2026, through June 4, 2027, with consistent weekly hours (37.5) and a daily schedule from 7:45 am to 2:45 pm.

Key Qualifications:

• Valid Special Education teaching certification
• Experience working with middle school students, preferably in self-contained settings
• Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation
• Excellent communication and classroom management skills
• Ability to create differentiated lesson plans to meet a range of student needs
• Collaborative spirit to work with teaching teams, families, and support personnel

What You’ll Do:

• Provide direct instruction to a self-contained 8th-grade class, adapting curriculum and teaching methods to accommodate various learning styles and abilities
• Develop, monitor, and update Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
• Foster a safe, inclusive, and positive learning atmosphere
• Track student progress and maintain accurate records
• Engage with parents and guardians to support student goals and achievements
• Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development, as required

This contract role offers a pay rate of $40 per hour, paired with steady hours and a supportive school environment.
