Make a meaningful impact in the lives of elementary students as a Special Education Teacher serving communities in and around Grasonville and Easton, MD. This full-time contract position is perfect for a dedicated SPED professional passionate about creating an inclusive, supportive classroom environment where diverse learners can thrive.
You will lead a self-contained elementary class, initially supporting five students, with the possibility of expanding to nine or ten over the school year. Supported by paraprofessionals, you will foster growth through the Program for Emotional & Academic Learning Support (PEALS), helping children achieve both academic and emotional milestones.
Qualifications:
- Valid Maryland Special Education Teacher Certification is required.
- Experience in self-contained elementary settings preferred.
- Understanding of curriculum modification and IEP development.
- Familiarity with evidence-based interventions such as Read 180, iSPIRE, Bridges, and Orton-Gillingham strongly valued.
- Strong abilities in goal monitoring, progress tracking, and individualized support.
- Collaborative approach to working with paraprofessionals and related service providers.
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement personalized curriculum and interventions.
- Maintain and update IEPs, monitor progress, and communicate with families and team members.
- Integrate academic and emotional learning supports using PEALS.
- Apply intervention strategies as suited to each student’s needs.
- Participate in IEP team days (typically Tuesdays) and adapt to schedule changes as needed.
Position Details:
- 2026-2027 academic year: August 17, 2026 to June 18, 2027.
- Full-time, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with schedules ranging between 8 AM to 4 PM.
- 30-minute unpaid lunch break daily.
- Contract position in the Easton and Grasonville area.
