An exciting opportunity is available for a Special Education Teacher to support middle school students in grades 6-8. This contract position is designed to cover a maternity leave, starting around October 24, 2025, through April 10, 2026. The role offers a full-time schedule of 40 hours per week with a focus on delivering specialized educational support to a caseload of 16 resource students, primarily cross-categorical including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Specific Learning Disability (SLD), Emotional and Behavioral Disorder (EBD), and Other Health Disabilities (OHD).

Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized instruction and support to middle school students with diverse special education needs.
  • Manage a caseload of 16 students across multiple disability categories.
  • Teach five class periods, including pull-out English and CT English sessions.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies to meet evolving needs.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with district and state regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Hold a valid Special Education teaching license; licenses in ABS or ASD are preferred.
  • Experience working with middle school students in grades 6-8.
  • Ability to manage a varied caseload primarily involving cross-categorical special education needs.
  • Strong classroom management skills and effective communication abilities.
  • Familiarity with special education laws, best practices, and instructional strategies.
  • Comfort teaching English pull-out sessions and collaborating within a multidisciplinary team.

Location: Eden Prairie, MN (Middle School setting)
