Make a meaningful impact by supporting young learners in a specialized classroom setting dedicated to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Emotional Behavioral Disorders (EBD). This is a contract position running from now through June 11, with potential for extension during the Extended School Year (ESY). The role focuses on fostering social-emotional growth for a small group of five students in grades 1 through 3, working alongside a dedicated team that includes four one-on-one paraprofessionals.
Key Qualifications:
- Current Tier 2 or Tier 3 Special Education licensure required
- Endorsement or prior experience with ASD or EBD strongly preferred
- Skill in providing social-emotional support within a classroom environment
- Responsive to the needs of students at, or near, grade-level in math; familiar with reading intervention strategies
- Ability to collaborate effectively with paraprofessionals and multidisciplinary teams
Responsibilities:
- Deliver targeted instruction and interventions for students with ASD and EBD
- Create a safe, supportive learning atmosphere that encourages social and emotional growth
- Modify instruction and develop individualized strategies, particularly for reading support
- Work closely with paraprofessionals to ensure each child’s success
- Track student progress, provide feedback, and communicate regularly with parents and staff
- Adapt to the unique needs and dynamics of a classroom serving students with diverse abilities
