Special Education Teacher in Eden Prairie, MN

Step into a rewarding role as a DCD Special Education Teacher within an elementary environment, supporting a dedicated program for students in grades K-1. This contract position is designed to create a positive, structured learning experience for a small group of six students in a Setting III program. Key qualifications and desired experience:

• Current Special Education teaching license, with preference for DCD certification
• Prior experience in elementary special education settings highly valued
• Demonstrated knowledge of adaptive curriculum, communication devices, and individualized instruction
• Strong commitment to assisting with all aspects of personal care, including toileting and feeding support
• Experience working with non-verbal students or those using augmentative communication is a plus
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills for partnering with families and other professionals
• Ability to develop and implement IEP goals with creativity, compassion, and consistency

Primary responsibilities include:

• Delivering individualized instruction based on student needs and IEPs
• Supporting students with personal care, communication, and daily living skills
• Working hands-on with staff and therapists to carry out behavior and learning plans
• Creating an inclusive, supportive, and adaptable classroom environment
• Engaging regularly with families on student progress and needs
• Maintaining thorough records and consistently documenting student growth and challenges
• Participating in school-based teams, meetings, and professional development
