Key qualifications and desired experience:
- Current Special Education teaching license, with preference for DCD certification
- Prior experience in elementary special education settings highly valued
- Demonstrated knowledge of adaptive curriculum, communication devices, and individualized instruction
- Strong commitment to assisting with all aspects of personal care, including toileting and feeding support
- Experience working with non-verbal students or those using augmentative communication is a plus
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills for partnering with families and other professionals
- Ability to develop and implement IEP goals with creativity, compassion, and consistency
Primary responsibilities include:
- Delivering individualized instruction based on student needs and IEPs
- Supporting students with personal care, communication, and daily living skills
- Working hands-on with staff and therapists to carry out behavior and learning plans
- Creating an inclusive, supportive, and adaptable classroom environment
- Engaging regularly with families on student progress and needs
- Maintaining thorough records and consistently documenting student growth and challenges
- Participating in school-based teams, meetings, and professional development
