Exciting opportunity available for a skilled Special Education Teacher with a strong background in math or science to support high school students for both the extended school year and traditional school year (FSY and NSY 26/27). This contract position serves students in grades 9–12, providing instruction and support as part of a dedicated team at a recovery-focused high school.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid special education teaching credentials appropriate for high school grades
- Experience in high school math or science instruction
- Understanding of special education processes, IEP development, and implementation
- Ability to build strong rapport with students in recovery or those requiring additional support
- Demonstrated classroom management and teamwork skills
- Organized, flexible, and committed to student growth and inclusion
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized math or science instruction to high school students (grades 9–12) in line with IEP goals
- Collaborate with other special educators, related service providers, and general education staff to promote successful student outcomes
- Develop and adapt curriculum materials to individual student needs
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation, progress reports, and participation in IEP meetings
- Foster a supportive and encouraging classroom environment tailored for adolescents in a recovery high school setting
