Qualifications and Experience

• Valid South Carolina Special Education certification
• Experience or strong interest working with students with severe disabilities
• Knowledge of IEP development and implementation
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Ability to adapt instruction and classroom environment for diverse learners
• Commitment to maintaining a safe, positive, and structured classroom setting
• Experience supporting life skills and functional academics is a plus

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver specialized instruction that aligns with students’ IEPs in a self-contained classroom
• Design, adapt, and implement curriculum for students with severe disabilities
• Monitor, document, and communicate student progress toward IEP goals
• Foster the academic, functional, behavioral, and life-skills development of each student
• Collaborate with general education and special education staff, administrators, and related service providers
• Engage in IEP meetings, actively contribute to plan development, and ensure consistent follow-through
• Maintain clear, positive communication with families and other stakeholders
