Step into a meaningful role as a Special Education Teacher serving a dynamic group of middle school students for the upcoming academic year. This contract opportunity is based near Elgin, IL, with a schedule running from August 17th through May 28th. You will be working 37.5 hours per week, focusing on approximately 15 students in resource or co-taught environments. The setting emphasizes collaboration, creativity, and individualized learning strategies, with little to no paraprofessional or teaching assistant support present in the classroom.

Desired Qualifications & Experience:

  • Valid Special Education Teacher certification required
  • Experience supporting middle school students with diverse learning needs
  • Strong understanding of resource and co-taught instructional models
  • Ability to manage a classroom independently, designing effective accommodations and modifications
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and families
  • Commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive learning environment

Core Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to student strengths and growth areas
  • Provide high-quality instruction in resource and co-taught classroom settings
  • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation
  • Work collaboratively with general education teachers to deliver effective differentiated instruction
  • Attend IEP meetings, staff meetings, and participate in ongoing professional development as required
  • Adapt teaching strategies to ensure all students achieve academic and social-emotional success
