This contract position covers a maternity leave and focuses on supporting students in a self-contained autism program serving grades 3 through 5. Key Qualifications:
- Valid Learning Behavior Specialist I (LBS-I) licensure in the State of Illinois
- Experience as a Special Education Teacher in grades K-5, with a preference for 3rd-5th grade experience
- Previous work with students on the autism spectrum in self-contained settings is strongly desired
- Strong behavior management skills and ability to implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational abilities
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction to a caseload of approximately 9 students with autism in a self-contained classroom
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs tailored to each student’s needs
- Collaborate with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, related service providers, and families
- Maintain accurate records and track student progress toward IEP goals
- Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student growth and independence
- Communicate regularly with families and participate in team meetings
This full-time contract runs from August 13, 2026 to November 9, 2026, with a weekly schedule of 36.25 hours, Monday through Friday, at 7.25 hours per day. You’ll receive compensation in the range of $40–$55 per hour, reflecting your qualifications and experience.
