Special Education Teacher - Elgin, Illinois

Qualifications:

• Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 endorsement
• Autism endorsement or experience working in autism programs strongly preferred
• Background in special education, particularly with elementary-aged students
• Strong classroom management and communication skills
• Ability to implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead a self-contained classroom for students in 2nd and 3rd grade, primarily serving children with autism
• Develop and adapt lesson plans to support diverse learning needs, following IEPs and best practices in special education
• Foster a positive, inclusive environment, encouraging both academic and social-emotional growth
• Collaborate with support staff, therapists, and families to maximize student progress
• Employ effective behavioral and instructional strategies tailored to each child
• Maintain accurate and timely records, progress reports, and documentation required by the district
