Qualifications:
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 endorsement
- Autism endorsement or experience working in autism programs strongly preferred
- Background in special education, particularly with elementary-aged students
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Ability to implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a self-contained classroom for students in 2nd and 3rd grade, primarily serving children with autism
- Develop and adapt lesson plans to support diverse learning needs, following IEPs and best practices in special education
- Foster a positive, inclusive environment, encouraging both academic and social-emotional growth
- Collaborate with support staff, therapists, and families to maximize student progress
- Employ effective behavioral and instructional strategies tailored to each child
- Maintain accurate and timely records, progress reports, and documentation required by the district
