Step into a rewarding contract role supporting elementary students with unique learning needs in a welcoming, well-resourced environment. This is a full-time, on-site opportunity for experienced Special Education Teachers who thrive in structured classrooms and value teamwork. You’ll be working with a dedicated group of 5 high-incidence students at the elementary level, with the support of two paraprofessionals, helping to create a positive and effective learning space.
Position Details:
- Full-time: 35 hours per week for the duration of the academic year
- Assignment runs from August 11, 2026, to May 24, 2027
- Structured classroom serving high-incidence elementary students
- Support from 2 paras in the classroom
- Two positions available
Key Qualifications:
- Active Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 endorsement required
- Prior experience working in special education, particularly with high-incidence student populations, preferred
- Ability and willingness to assist with toileting and self-care as needed
- Confident with positive behavioral support strategies and managing classroom routines
- Strong commitment to inclusion and student growth
- Excellent communication, organization, and collaboration skills
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized instruction supporting academic and behavioral goals
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs in collaboration with families and team members
- Foster a safe, structured, and supportive classroom climate
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals to ensure continuity of care
- Engage with families and student support teams for holistic student progress
- Adapt teaching strategies based on ongoing assessment and student feedback
