Special Education Teacher in Elizabeth, NJ

Key Qualifications and Experience:

• Valid certification in Special Education (or eligibility for certification)
• Demonstrated experience working with elementary-aged students, particularly in K-3 settings
• Strong understanding of IEP development, progress monitoring, and differentiation strategies
• Excellent classroom management skills and a compassionate, student-focused approach
• Proficiency in collaborating with families, support staff, and related service providers
• Ability to adapt instructional techniques to meet the diverse needs of learners

Primary Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students
• Deliver engaging, standards-based instruction tailored to students’ unique needs and abilities
• Collaborate with general educators and therapeutic staff to ensure inclusion and appropriate support within the classroom
• Maintain accurate student records, progress reports, and required documentation in compliance with state and federal regulations
• Communicate regularly with parents and caregivers regarding student progress and goals
• Participate in team meetings, professional development sessions, and ongoing training opportunities
• Foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment
