Special Education Teacher in Elizabeth, NJ

Exciting opportunity available for an experienced Special Education Math Teacher eager to make a meaningful impact in a school environment. This contract position spans the full academic year, providing a rewarding chance to support and mentor students from September through June. The school is conveniently located near Elizabeth, NJ, and needs a dedicated professional to deliver engaging and effective math instruction to students receiving special education services.

Key Qualifications:

• Valid Special Education Teacher certification
• Academic credits in Mathematics required
• Alternatively, a Teacher of the Handicapped certification with math credits accepted
• Experience working within a school setting, preferably with a diverse special education caseload
• Strong communication and classroom management skills
• Ability to collaborate with colleagues, families, and support staff
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment

Primary Responsibilities:

• Plan and implement math lessons tailored to meet the individual learning needs of students with disabilities
• Develop IEPs and monitor student progress toward academic and behavioral goals
• Utilize differentiated instruction strategies and modifications/accommodations
• Maintain accurate and timely records of student achievement
• Participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and professional development sessions
• Work in close collaboration with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and related service providers
• Support student engagement, social growth, and independence
