This contract position spans the full academic year, providing a rewarding chance to support and mentor students from September through June. The school is conveniently located near Elizabeth, NJ, and needs a dedicated professional to deliver engaging and effective math instruction to students receiving special education services.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education Teacher certification
- Academic credits in Mathematics required
- Alternatively, a Teacher of the Handicapped certification with math credits accepted
- Experience working within a school setting, preferably with a diverse special education caseload
- Strong communication and classroom management skills
- Ability to collaborate with colleagues, families, and support staff
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment
Primary Responsibilities:
- Plan and implement math lessons tailored to meet the individual learning needs of students with disabilities
- Develop IEPs and monitor student progress toward academic and behavioral goals
- Utilize differentiated instruction strategies and modifications/accommodations
- Maintain accurate and timely records of student achievement
- Participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and professional development sessions
- Work in close collaboration with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and related service providers
- Support student engagement, social growth, and independence
