Step into a meaningful role providing specialized support to students as a Developmental Cognitive Disabilities (DCD) teacher. You'll be working in an engaging K-5 environment, making a direct impact on students with unique learning needs. This contract position starts in late August 2026 and continues through early June 2027, offering you the opportunity to guide, inspire, and empower young learners every school day.

Required qualifications:

  • Valid Minnesota Teaching Certification (Tier 3 or Tier 4)—please be prepared to submit this along with your resume
  • Experience or strong interest in Special Education, particularly with students with developmental cognitive disabilities
  • Ability to develop and implement effective individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with students, families, and a supportive staff
  • Commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive classroom environment
  • Passion for adapting instructional strategies to meet student needs

Responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing a caseload of approximately nine students at the elementary level
  • Creating targeted lesson plans and utilizing evidence-based interventions
  • Collaborating closely with paraprofessionals, specialists, and classroom teachers
  • Maintaining accurate records, progress notes, and required documentation
  • Communicating regularly with families and support teams regarding student progress
  • Participating in professional development and team meetings

Your school days will run Monday through Friday, roughly 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, for a total of 37.5 hours per week (with a 30-minute unpaid lunch). You’ll be at the center of a welcoming campus committed to helping every child thrive.
