Special Education Teacher - Elk River, MN

Step into a fulfilling contract role supporting students as a dedicated Special Education Teacher focused on Developmental Cognitive Disabilities (DCD) in a dynamic elementary school environment. This position provides a rewarding opportunity to make a direct difference in the lives of children with unique learning needs, starting August 25, 2026, and extending through June 10, 2027. Your expertise will help shape an inclusive classroom while collaborating with supportive staff members.

Position Highlights:

• Serve students with Developmental Cognitive Disabilities in an elementary school setting
• Manage a caseload averaging 9 students, providing direct instruction, intervention, and support
• Enjoy a consistent Monday through Friday schedule, 37.5 hours per week (8:30 AM – 4:30 PM), with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break

Qualifications and Experience:

• Valid Minnesota Teaching Certification required (must attach certification and resume to be considered)
• Tier 3 or Tier 4 Minnesota licensure in Special Education
• Prior experience working with students with developmental disabilities is preferred
• Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
• Passion for fostering an inclusive, supportive learning environment

Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, and adapt Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Provide specialized instruction and accommodations tailored to students’ developmental and cognitive needs
• Assess student progress and document outcomes
• Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, families, and school staff
• Create a structured, positive, and nurturing classroom climate
• Engage in ongoing professional development related to special education best practices
