Special Education Teacher | Elkhart, Indiana

This contract opportunity offers the chance to work with elementary and K-8th grade students who benefit from both mild and intense intervention programs, with multiple roles available based on your expertise. You will be working a full-time schedule of 40 hours per week and will have the chance to make a significant impact in an encouraging school setting.

Qualifications:

• Valid or pending Indiana Teaching Certificate (required)
• Previous experience as a Special Education Teacher is highly preferred
• Background in teaching students with mild and/or intense intervention needs
• Ability to adapt instructional methods to diverse student abilities
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Collaborative mindset to work alongside general and special education staff

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each student’s learning goals
• Provide direct instruction and support to students with emotional impairments (EI), mild, or intense intervention needs
• Collaborate with general education teachers, administrators, and support staff to foster an inclusive learning environment
• Maintain accurate student records and progress reports
• Engage with families to update them on student progress and strategies for continued growth
• Participate in team meetings and professional development as needed
