A long-term substitute special education teaching opportunity is available for grades 6-8 in a middle school setting in Ellington, CT. This contract role supports students in delivering instruction across core subjects including math, reading, writing, as well as life and social skills. The assignment begins as soon as possible and will continue until the current staff member returns, which may vary in duration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing specialized instruction tailored to students with autism and other special needs
- Delivering curriculum in math, reading, writing, life skills, and social skills
- Collaborating during planning time to prepare lessons and materials
- Participating in PPT (Planning and Placement Team) meetings
- Writing and updating Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) to meet student goals
Requirements:
- Connecticut Special Education licensure valid for grades 6-8
- Experience working specifically with middle school students diagnosed with autism is required
- Ability to manage a diverse caseload and adapt instruction to meet individualized learning needs
Schedule:
- Monday through Friday, 7:45 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.
This position is part of the 2025-2026 school year contract with a competitive hourly rate ranging from $34 to $44.
