Step into a rewarding, contract-based opportunity as a Special Education Teacher, supporting a vibrant elementary environment for students in grades 3-5. This maternity leave coverage runs from August 13, 2026, through November 9, 2026. You’ll make a meaningful impact by working within a self-contained autism program, focusing on individualized attention for a caseload of approximately nine students.

Your expertise will guide daily instruction and development, anchored within a supportive and collaborative school community. Enjoy a consistent Monday through Friday schedule with 36.25 weekly hours (7.25 hours per day), allowing you to immerse yourself in your students’ growth while maintaining clear structure in your week. Compensation for this assignment is between $40 and $55 per hour, reflecting your experience and licensure.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Learning Behavior Specialist I (LBS-I) certification in Illinois required
  • Experience working with elementary students in a self-contained special education setting, preferably with autism programs
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to differentiate instruction to meet individual needs
  • Collaborative spirit and excellent communication abilities
  • Commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive classroom environment

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver tailored instruction to a small group of students in a self-contained classroom for grades 3-5
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Work collaboratively with paraprofessionals, general education teachers, and specialists
  • Monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly
  • Partner with families to support student development and communicate ongoing progress
