Special Education Teacher - Elmira, New York

Key Qualifications:

• Active New York State Special Education Teaching license
• Appropriate endorsements/certifications for Special Education
• Experience working with high school-aged students, particularly those with emotional disabilities (ED) preferred
• Commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive, and accommodating educational atmosphere
• Strong communication, collaboration, and behavioral intervention skills

Role Responsibilities:

• Deliver dynamic instruction to 11th-12th graders in a specialized classroom setting
• Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) addressing students’ needs
• Foster a welcoming and safe classroom culture that encourages social-emotional growth
• Collaborate with support staff, therapists, and families to maximize student progress
• Keep accurate, thorough documentation concerning student performance and development
• Adapt teaching methods and materials to suit learning differences and promote engagement
• Participate in IEP meetings, staff conferences, and ongoing professional development

This assignment runs from September 8 through October 30, 2026, at the Wildwood site, with a regular weekly commitment of 35 hours. Candidates should be prepared for an immediate start and able to work onsite.
