Key Qualifications:

• Valid New York State Teaching License with High School endorsement
• Required certifications for teaching in an ED classroom setting
• Experience working with high school students, particularly those with social-emotional or behavioral needs
• Strong classroom management and communication skills
• Adaptability, patience, and the ability to foster a supportive learning atmosphere

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instruction to high school students in a specialized classroom designed to support emotional growth and academic achievement
• Collaborate with Teacher’s Assistants or serve as a long-term substitute, depending on daily assignment needs
• Develop and implement differentiated lesson plans tailored to individual education plans (IEPs)
• Maintain a structured, compassionate classroom environment that supports a diverse range of student needs
• Communicate regularly with parents, staff, and support personnel regarding student progress and strategies
• Participate in team meetings and case conferences as required
• Ensure compliance with district procedures and state/federal guidelines
