A Special Education Teacher opportunity is available in Elyria, OH, for a school setting. This contract position runs from ASAP through June 4, 2026, with potential for renewal next year or transition into a full district employee role.

This role focuses on a self-contained Cross Categorical (Cross Cat) unit serving a small caseload of 8-9 students within the kindergarten to first-grade age range. The school day operates from 8:25 AM to 3:30 PM, providing a structured environment to support early learners with special education needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver tailored instruction to students in a self-contained Cross Cat classroom setting.
• Develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and implement effective teaching strategies.
• Monitor student progress and adjust plans to meet educational goals.
• Collaborate with school staff and families to ensure comprehensive support.
• Maintain a positive, nurturing learning environment for K-1 students.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Valid Special Education teaching certification.
• Experience working with young children (K-1) in a self-contained special education setting.
• Strong knowledge of special education strategies, behavior management, and inclusive practices.
• Ability to engage students with diverse learning needs effectively.
